YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the Underground Mine Supervisor, you will be part of the Mine Department. You will construct, erect, install, maintain, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steels and other materials such as plastic, concrete and drywall.You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
•Installation of the paste line;
•Read and interpret prints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements;
•Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems, such as bulkheads;
•Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware;
•Work in compliance with federal and provincial building codes, as well as related regulatory and safety requirements and legislation;
•Operate various construction and mining equipment, such as jackleg, stoper, shotcrete machine, zoom boom, scissor lift and welder;
•Build form following according to prints and pour concrete;
•Strip wood and steel when performing rehabilitation;
•Prepare and maintain records for construction materials;
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
•Experience in an industrial welding environment with working knowledge of manuals, and schematics is required;
•2 years of proven underground construction experience;
•WBC Certification is considered an asset;
•Inter-Provincial (Red Seal) Certification and High Pressure Certification are considered an asset;
•NAC Certification or DEP in Mineral Extraction, or equivalent;
•Underground Certification or equivalent, such as Mining Modules and Common Core are considered an asset;
•Mine Engineering Plan reading skills;
•Valid approval letter under the explosives regulations or equivalent, such as explosive permit.
Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.
Your Work Schedule:
•Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;
•Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
