Datamine Canada Inc. is seeking a technically skilled Mine Planning Solutions Consultant specializing in stratigraphic deposits. This role will focus on the implementation, training, and support of Datamine’s MineScape software suite, with emphasis on stratigraphic deposit mine planning.
MineScape is widely recognized for its powerful stratigraphic mine design capabilities, supporting commodities such as mineral sands, coal, potash, and phosphate in open pit mining environments.
The successful candidate will bring practical experience in stratigraphic deposit mining, ideally with prior exposure to MineScape. Knowledge of related mine planning software packages (e.g., Surpac, Minex, Carlson, or other equivalent solutions) will also be highly regarded.
This role is part of Datamine North America (Datamine Canada Inc.) a division of Datamine, a global leader in mining technology solutions with operations across 20+ countries. - Deploy, configure, and support MineScape applications focused on stratigraphic deposit mining.
- Adapt software to client-specific workflows in coal, potash/phosphate, and mineral sands operations.
- Integrate MineScape with survey data and operational plans.
- Deliver training sessions (onsite and remote) to engineers, planners, and mine operations staff.
- Develop tailored learning resources to enhance client adoption of MineScape.
- Guide users through practical workflows including stratigraphic pit design, block modeling, scheduling, and operational planning.
- Troubleshoot user issues and provide responsive support on stratigraphic deposit-related workflows.
- Act as a subject matter expert for both MineScape and related tools, offering best-practice recommendations.
- Gather client feedback to inform product development and innovation.
- Learn and develop a strong working knowledge of other Datamine planning solutions to broaden expertise and support client engagements.
- Support the sales team by delivering technical product demonstrations and presentations to prospective clients.
- Assist with proof-of-concept models and tailored workflows to showcase how Datamine’s solutions address client needs.
- Respond to technical questions during the sales process, providing expertise that highlights the value of MineScape and related planning solutions.
- Education:
Degree in Mining Engineering (required) from a recognized college/university.
- Experience:
- At least 3 years of professional experience, ideally in roles within a software or consulting company, or within a mining company environment.
- Practical use of MineScape preferred; experience with related tools (Surpac, Minex, Carlson, etc.) also well regarded.
- Hands-on mine planning experience within stratigraphic deposits (coal, mineral sands, potash, phosphate) in open pit environments.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong background in stratigraphic deposit mine planning.
- Familiarity with CAD-based mine planning systems and survey data integration.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for training and client engagement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Self-starter, able to work independently in a remote role.
