Datamine is seeking an experienced Mine Planning Solutions Consultant specializing in Metals Deposits to join our North America team. This position is well-suited for mining professionals with strong mine planning expertise, practical experience using leading industry software, and a passion for supporting clients in optimizing their operations.
The consultant will deliver technical expertise, training, and implementation services for Datamine’s solutions, including Studio NPVS+, Studio OP, DTS, Studio Survey and MineMax.
This role offers flexibility to be based anywhere in North America, provided the candidate has an existing right to work. Preference will be given to those located near one of Datamine’s key offices: Toronto, Sudbury, Vancouver, or Denver.
This role is part of Datamine North America, a division of Datamine, a global leader in mining technology solutions with operations across 20+ countries. - Lead consulting and implementation projects, with a focus on open pit metals deposits. - Apply Studio NPVS+ for strategic open pit planning, pit optimization, scheduling, and scenario analysis.
- Utilize Studio OP for medium to short-term pit design, waste dump scheduling, haulage optimization, and blending.
- Conduct feasibility studies, due diligence, life-of-mine plans, and trade-off studies.
- Deliver client training, workshops, and support sessions to ensure successful adoption of Datamine tools.
- Learn and develop a strong working knowledge of other Datamine planning solutions, including Studio NPVS+, Studio OP, DTS, Studio Survey, and MineMax, to broaden expertise and support client engagements.- Support the sales team by delivering technical product demonstrations and presentations to prospective clients.
- Assist with proof-of-concept models and tailored workflows to showcase how Datamine’s solutions address client needs.
- Respond to technical questions during the sales process, providing expertise that highlights the value of MineScape and related planning solutions.
- Collaborate with internal product and R&D teams, providing feedback to enhance functionality and client experience.
- Maintain awareness of related software (Deswik, Maptek, Hexagon, Micromine) to support solution positioning and client advisory.
- Travel within North America to support client engagements, training, and project delivery.
- Degree in Mine Engineering from a recognized university
- At least 3 years of relevant experience, either:
- Within a mining company using mine planning software for metals deposits (open pit), or
- In a consulting or software company delivering mining technology solutions
- Hands-on experience with mining software solutions, including tools for optimization, design, scheduling, and survey, such as Datamine solutions: Studio NPVS+, Studio OP, DTS, Studio Survey or MineMax- Strong client-facing communication and problem-solving skills
- Expertise in pit optimization, pushback design, mine scheduling, and scenario analysis
- Experience with short-term scheduling, haulage optimization, and blending
- Knowledge of international reporting standards (NI 43-101, JORC, SK 1300)
- Proven ability to deliver training and change management for software adoption
