Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Produce development and stope layouts.
- Check work of his/her peers for correctness and accuracy.
- Develop mining plans in conjunction with other departments such as maintenance, electrical, geology and underground and are required to follow all acts regulations under the OHSA.
- Stay current of activities within respective headings and remain up-to-date of production, development and drilling rates to accurately schedule and prioritize required work.
- Reconcile stopes upon completion.
- Provide input to the Senior Mine Planner to develop and maintain a rolling 3-month plan, which will allow the mine to meet its production/exploration commitments and goals.
- Work jointly with Underground Captains to develop daily and weekly plans in a timely manner.
- Survey control points advanced, data downloaded and entered into AutoCAD or other related programs.
- Update all AutoCAD level layers on an as needed basis following drawing standards
- Provide reference tools for the mine department to operate effectively/accurately.
- Update and issue development and stope heading updates.
- Perform air flow, air quality, and temperature measurements and create weekly reports.
- Perform audits on auxiliary ventilation installation quality and recommend improvements.
- Ensure compliance with ventilation related regulatory requirements
- Design auxiliary ventilation circuits.
- Determine diesel equipment allowances.
- Create and maintain ventilation and U/G emergency related drawings.
- Other tasks as required.
- Bachelor’s Degree/Technical Degree in Mining Engineering or relevant qualifications.
- 2 years of relevant experience in an operating mine.
- Experience in an underground hard rock mining environment.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Working knowledge of mine design software is considered an asset (AutoCAD, Promine, Deswik).
- Schedule: 4/3 schedule (Monday to Thursday) at our Upper Beaver Gold Project in Dobie, ON.
