Provides administrative and technical leadership to a group of multi-skilled engineering professionals to ensure the reliability of the Transmission System by utilizing a variety of study tools to; perform system studies, analyze results and develop mitigation plans in both operations planning and real-time time horizons.
Functions as a group lead for Operational Planning and represents the work unit in related matters.
Manages workflow by scheduling work, providing work direction and setting goals to ensure team’s objectives are met.
Coaches, mentors, trains, develops, motivates and supervises staff; assigns and reviews work and conducts performance reviews.
Solves technical problems by interpreting and evaluating information, uncovering related issues, developing methods or procedures for gathering information, making recommendations and implementing solutions for matters related to long-term, next day and real time horizon operational planning studies and mitigation strategies.
Provides expertise and guidance on technical issues to the Real Time Operations, Planning and Engineering groups to ensure system reliability.
Provides subject matter expertise for projects and committees regarding technical and non-technical matters related to operational planning including participating in industry working groups and forums.
Participates in policy development, implements policies and negotiates and resolves issues.
Provides input on compliance with industry standards; develops compliance documentation, procedures and controls.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education; Master's Degree and Power Systems emphasis preferred.
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in the electric utility industry with a minimum of two (2) years of leadership experience; system operations or power system analysis experience preferred.
Good understanding of NERC and RTOs operating standards and policies.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Proven ability to work effectively as a member of external and internal cross-functional teams.
