Compensation Information
The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. While we strive to provide competitive and transparent compensation, there may be circumstances where an offer is above or outside of the listed range. We are open to discussing salary expectations with qualified candidates considering factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location will all be considered during the hiring process.

Join our team as the Manager of Market Design!
We’re seeking an experienced and strategic Manager of Market Design to lead the development of market design policy for SPP. This is a critical leadership role that influences the future direction of energy markets across the region.
As the Manager of Market Design, you’ll drive the evolution of market policies, assess the impact of policy changes, and collaborate closely with stakeholders—including SPP members, regulators, and other ISO/RTO organizations. Internally, you'll work cross-functionally with teams such as Market Monitoring, Legal, Operations, Regulatory, and Settlements to ensure our policies align with strategic objectives and market performance goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of market policy aligned with SPP’s strategic goals.
- Analyze market data to identify performance trends and policy improvement opportunities.
- Engage with SPP members, regulatory bodies, and ISO/RTO counterparts on market design discussions.
- Represent SPP at industry working groups, including ISO-RTO Council and NERC committees.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure market design supports operational and regulatory needs.
- Provide expert guidance to internal and external stakeholders on market rules and policy impacts.
- Manage and mentor a high-performing team of analysts and policy experts.
- Conduct performance management, coaching, and development planning for direct reports.
- Oversee department budgeting, focusing on cost control and service improvement.
- Supervise and lead cross-functional initiatives and special projects as assigned.
To be successful as the Manager of Market Design
we're looking for:- Bachelor’s degree
- Eight (8) years of industry experience
- Strong interpersonal and team-building skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent facilitation skills for internal and external team/group meetings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Competent working skills with communication and data handling software such as Microsoft Office, Excel and Access
- Demonstrate proficiency in business acumen and professional conduct
- Demonstrate the ability to function with constantly changing and multiple priorities
- Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures
- Experience in wholesale electric or other electric markets and their design is preferred
- An advanced degree or professional certification is preferred
Position Type And Expected Hours Of Work
- This is a full-time position. Days and hours of the workweek are Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required.
