Meter Technician
Easton Utilities is currently seeking to fill the position of Meter Technician. The ideal candidate will bring strong attention to detail and exemplify a strong work ethic that portrays Easton Utilities core values of Integrity, Commitment, and Excellence.
HIRING RANGE: $19.65/hr. or higher depending upon experience and credentials.
JOB OBJECTIVE: Process all activity involved with the electric, gas, and water meters including installation, reading, and repair work. Monitor usage through these meters for accurate customer billing. This position is full-time and non-exempt.
- Knowledge and willingness to work with electricity, water, and natural gas.
- Ability to use basic hand tools and electronic measurement equipment.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well with the public.
- Must be able to perform basic math functions including algebra.
- Must be familiar with and able to use Excel and Word as well as other internal and externally developed computer apps.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Climbing, lifting, carrying, bending, digging, and walking for long periods of time in all weather conditions.
- Must wear proper PPE at all times.
HIRING RANGE: $23.55/hr. or higher depending upon experience and credentials.

- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions, including algebra.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word) and the ability to learn and utilize other internal and external software applications.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of North Carolina Meter School’s Introduction to Single Phase Metering course.
- Completion of the Northwest Lineman College (NWLC) Meter Technician training programs.
HIRING RANGE: $28.27/hr. or higher depending upon experience and credentials.

- Minimum of 2 (two) years of relevant experience and proficiency as a Meter Technician I.
- Knowledge of and experience working with electricity.
- Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with the public.
- Ability to use basic hand tools and electronic measurement equipment.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions, including algebra.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word) and the ability to learn and utilize other internal and external software applications.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of North Carolina Meter School’s Three Phase Metering courses.
HIRING RANGE: $30.96/hr. or higher depending upon experience and credentials.
JOB OBJECTIVE: Handle all activity involved with the electric, gas and water meters including installation, reading and repair work. Monitor usage through these meters for accurate customer billing. This position is full-time and non-exempt.
- Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience as a Meter Technician, including at least one (1) year at the Meter Technician II level or equivalent.
- Advanced working knowledge of electricity, metering systems, and applied mathematics.
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex meter installations, diagnostics, and troubleshooting with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide guidance to junior technicians.
- Ability to perform advanced mathematical functions, including algebra, as applied to metering systems.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, electronic measurement equipment, and testing instruments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word) and the ability to navigate and utilize internal and externally developed software applications.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of NC’s Metering School’s Advanced/Management courses.
