You will lead projects involving the fundamentals of precious metals and platinum group alloys metallurgy, phase diagrams, stress vs. strain diagrams, metal processing, and heat treatment to improve our products and processes.
Responsibilities
•Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, project management, and metallurgical skills are required to be successful in this role
•Alloy and process development; conduct alloy property tests; stay up-to-date on recent general alloy and process developments
•Provide technical guidance and support metallurgical issues to production and sales
•Use Materials Characterization Lab equipment to assist in resolving immediate quality issues
•Create SOP documentation on manufacturing processes
•Work with internal production supervisors to identify, define and prioritize projects for development or improvement
•Work with manufacturing team to develop robust protocols to hold the gains for all completed projects
•Develop and maintain technical knowledge of GSM process systems, products, equipment, approaches, and technology
•Develop process specifications to consistently produce high quality precious metal products
Qualifications
•A Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science
•Some knowledge of metallurgic fundamentals
•Experience in rolling and stamping of metal; cold working and annealing
•Experience with furnaces, metal forming equipment, equipment specification, capital projects, selection, installation, and validation
•Ability to work in cross functional teams and effectively communicate throughout the organization
•Project Management fundamentals
