About This Job

POSITION SUMMARY: The Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) Component Engineering organization generates technical requirements and associated design parameters for the modular advanced light water reactor (ALWR) NSSS. Utilizing proven state-of-the-art methodologies, NSSS components are engineered to nuclear industry standards. The person in this position performs design and stress analyses of pressure vessels, reactor vessel internals, and/or primary equipment supports in accordance with ASME BPVC Section III and applicable regulatory requirements. All work within the NSSS Component Engineering organization is completed under ASME NQA-1 quality assurance requirements and respective U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission guidelines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Possesses expert knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards and regulations.

Performs and documents evaluations of components to the rules and requirements of Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code including but not limited to analysis of components for pressure, mechanical/thermal loadings including Primary Stress, Primary plus Secondary stress intensity range, and Fatigue. Utilizes the results from these evaluations to optimize component(s) design.
Significant experienced with ANSYS finite element software and CAD packages.
Interprets scope and project requirements.
Acquires, maintains and develops training qualifications. Provides guidance and mentoring to other staff members in all areas of NSSS Component Analysis.
Interacts with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Individuals should be interested in acquiring general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields in order to function on multi-disciplinary teams.
Provides mentoring and technical direction to less experienced engineers. Serves as a technical lead for the NSSS Component Analysis Group.
Expected to provide company-wide and cross disciplinary input and decision-making at the programmatic level.
Expected to have industry-wide influence such as ASME Code committee participation, authoring influential research papers, ownership of projects or specialized programs, etc.
Responsible for results and engineering oversight.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Quality Assurance: Commits to the understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and ASME NQA-1.

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:* Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, from a four year ABET accredited college or university is required. An advanced degree is preferred. A professional engineer (P.E.) certification is strongly preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 15 years of full-time relevant working experience is required. Candidates must be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience with engineering design and stress analysis (Design by Analysis methodology) in the nuclear industry (Subsection NB, NG, and/or NF components in Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code), as well as expertise with the ANSYS computer program. Additional experience in the following areas is desired:
+ Seismic/dynamic analysis. + Computer programming skills (e.g., ANSYS APDL, Matlab, Python).
Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Pay and Benefits:

The target pay range for this position is $152,520 - $184,076 annually.The full pay range is $136,742 – $213,878.This position is also eligible for an annual target incentive bonus of 10% of base pay.
