About This Job

POSITION SUMMARY: The Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) Component Engineering organization generates technical requirements and associated design parameters for the modular advanced light water reactor (ALWR) NSSS. Utilizing proven state-of-the-art methodologies, NSSS components are engineered to nuclear industry standards. The person in this position will learn how to and will perform design activities and stress analyses to support manufacture of pressure vessels, reactor vessel internals, and/or primary equipment supports in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) Section III and applicable regulatory requirements. All work within the NSSS design organization is completed under ASME NQA-1 quality assurance requirements and respective U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission guidelines.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs and documents evaluations of components to the rules and requirements of Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code including but not limited to analysis of components for pressure, mechanical/thermal loadings including Primary Stress, Primary plus Secondary stress intensity range, and Fatigue. Utilizes the results from these evaluations to optimize component(s) design.
Prepare and review engineering specifications, reports, and other documentation that communicate the design and technical aspects of components, systems, and structures associated with the NSSS.
Maintain and revise computer-aided design (CAD) models using Siemens NX and related engineering drawings in accordance with ASME Y14 standards and best practices.
Interacts with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Individuals should be interested in acquiring general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields in order to function on multi-disciplinary teams.
Collaborate with peers in different organizations and engage in the engineering change control process to ensure design decisions are well-communicated and well-understood.
Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, from a four year ABET accredited college or university is required. A registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is preferred.
Experience: No formal full time Engineering experience is required; however, demonstration of Engineering internships is preferred. Additional preferred experience is listed below:
+ Use of software: ANSYS Mechanical/Workbench, CAD (e.g., NX, SolidWorks), normal office software (e.g., Microsoft Office products) is strongly preferred. + Computer programming skills (e.g., Python, Matlab) is strongly preferred. + Must have strong technical writing skills and possess good communication, computer, presentation and interpersonal skills. + Exceptional organization skills and ability to manage complex projects with multiple work phases is required.
Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Pay and Benefits:

The target pay range for this position is $70,737 - $85,373 annually.The full pay range is $63,420 - $99,195 annually.
