Job Title and Employee Name: Mechanical Designer
Reports to: Director of Engineering-West Region
Economic Value-Add: Designing energy efficient systems and creating construction documents that eliminate confusion and minimize added cost.
Client Value-Add: Designing systems that allow for ease of maintenance and control and are energy efficient
Job Purpose: In this position, you uphold design standards to ensure clients are getting the highest quality design and construction documents possible.
Principle Accountabilities:
•Collaborate with design consultants to provide a thoroughly coordinated solution
•Provide onsite verification of existing systems and conditions
•Size equipment & systems to maximize energy efficiency and construction value
•Demonstrate ownership of design standards, system design, and construction documents
•Utilize systems including REVIT and CAD to prepare drawings and layouts
•Ensure conformance to specifications
•Troubleshoot, evaluate, and recommend solutions
•Address problems and challenges with urgency; collaborate with team Nexus as needed
•Coordinate project design schedules, budgets, and scope
•Support development of overall design plan
•Collaborate with construction managers to review project as the design develops
•Support project managers in identifying potential change orders by tracking project scope
Required Qualifications
•Associates degree or equivalent experience in HVAC or Mechanical Design
•A minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical design, HVAC design or building systems
•Ability to solve problems effectively and efficiently
•Demonstrated attention to detail
•Strong partnering and collaboration skills
•Proven ability to operate with integrity and empathy and build trust-based relationships
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Track record of consistently producing accurate, high-quality deliverables on time
•Ability to hold self and others accountable to drive projects forward
•Understanding of facility components such as electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems
•Self-directed and highly organized in approach to work
•Strong computer skills with competency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Bluebeam
•Demonstrated proficiency reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings
•Ability to accommodate flexible scheduling
•Capable of training and mentoring less experienced drafters

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
