Mechanical Design Engineer

Actalent Engineering is seeking qualified candidates for a Mechanical Design Engineering Opening with a conveyor manufacturer in York, PA. This person will work closely with Project Engineering and other members of the Design Engineering team to develop new conveying equipment and refine existing designs for both custom and standard equipment. This role requires a combination of conceptual design, detailed drafting. and technical problem-solving to ensure high-quality, efficient equipment designs.

Below is a summary of responsibilities for this position:

- Develop conceptual designs, detail drawings, assembly drawings, and arrangement drawings for conveyors and other equipment fabrication

- Ensure all drawings adhere to company design standards

- Create detailed layouts to verify machine tolerances and clearances

- Conduct and participate in design reviews

- Monitor project progress to maintain schedules, coordinate activities, and resolve issues

- Apply product knowledge and technical skills to address application challenges

- Complete assignments independently and within deadlines

- Identify purchased materials and generate purchase requisitions

- Perform motor sizing and structural integrity calculations

Below is a summary of requirements for qualified candidates:

- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline

- 3-5 years of relevant design experience

- Proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

- Experience with food processing equipment design preferred

- Background in a custom machinery manufacturing environment preferred

- Sanitary design experience is a plus

- Conveyor design and sheet metal experience preferred

- Self-motivated with a strong enthusiasm for mechanical design

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

- Highly accountable, taking ownership of successes and mistakes

- Open to constructive criticism and continuous learning

- Strong desire to develop technical skills and industry knowledge

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
