Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Material Planner to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing inventory levels, ensuring timely procurement of materials, and optimizing supply chain processes. This position requires a strong understanding of demand planning and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Duties
•Plan and organize raw material schedules & material planning
•Create and transmit releases through EDI to suppliers
•Adjust/modify schedules to accommodate forecast fluctuations, rush orders & breakdowns
•Analyze supplier releases and deliveries and escalate issues to management. Work closely with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery
•Check on-hand inventory levels and notify production as needed
•Monitor the ERP system daily to ensure correct material receipt and maintain accurate raw material stocks
•Work closely with materials and production group to ensure production efficiency is met
•Meet delivery KBI (i.e. On-time delivery, zero-defect raw materials, etc.)
•Maintain accurate pricing in ERP to avoid invoicing issues
•Work closely with plating/coating suppliers to ensure suppliers are meeting their quoted lead time
•Assist in quarterly and fiscal inventory
Skills
•4 years plus material planning in a fast-paced automotive environment
•Education in Supply Chain Management as an asset
•The steel industry experiences an asset
•Working knowledge of CMS or equivalent system
•Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data effectively.
•Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques to enhance operational efficiency.
•Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
•Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
•Metal forming and outside process knowledge an asset
•Cross boarder shipping experience is an asset
