The Material Operations Manager oversees warehouse material operations, ensuring field technicians and installers have the right electrical construction materials at the right time and price. This role involves coordinating with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams, managing multiple priorities, and solving problems creatively. You’ll work closely with the Warehouse and Tool/Equipment Managers to allocate resources efficiently across various construction projects, while maintaining a focus on continuous improvement.
- Communicate with department heads, project managers, and field staff to coordinate material procurement.
- Manage multiple material orders, ensuring timely delivery and strong vendor relationships.
- Track and reconcile purchase orders in the job costing system.
- Oversee material check-in/out, coordinating with the Warehouse Manager and delivery drivers.
- Process returns efficiently to keep warehouses and job sites organized.
- Use electrical trade knowledge to select efficient parts for residential, commercial, and light industrial projects.
- Select and negotiate with suppliers based on quality, price, and availability.
- Monitor market trends for material availability, pricing, and quality.
- Optimize transportation costs for purchased goods.
- Maintain purchasing records, reports, and standard operating procedures.
- Supervise part-time material and warehouse assistants.
- Manage inventory levels and pricing effectively.- 3+ years of electrical trade knowledge.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- 3+ years of warehousing experience (a plus).- Continuous improvement mindset with a Lean focus.
- Experience with ERP, PO, or ComputerEase software (a plus).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and MS Teams for tracking operations.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Attention to detail, sense of urgency, and ability to follow through.
- Adaptability to handle competing priorities.
- Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
- Knowledge of electrical construction and related trades.
