Material Handler Senior

About This Job

Processes a variety of transactions related to warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, issuing parts to jobs, physically moving parts, and inventory counts.



Essential Duties:

Assist in compiling information such as consumption rate, characteristics of items in storage, and current market conditions, used by others to determine stock supply and need for replenishment.

Receive incoming materials, supplies and equipment.

Unload trucks, inspect material for damage or defects, uncrate and assemble materials if needed.

Prepare crates and other items to be shipped.

Operate material handling equipment including hand truck, pallet jack, forklift, delivery vehicle, etc.

May respond to after hours requests regularly on an on call basis.

Non-Essential Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:


Ability to:

Perform all assigned duties.

Demonstrate skills required to obtain forklift operator certification.

Maintain good housekeeping in assigned area.

Comply with all applicable safety, environmental, and PPE policies and procedures.

Effectively demonstrate time management and organizational skills needed to complete competing tasks and meet time sensitive deadlines.

Demonstrate proficiency and ability to train on ERP system to process all shipping / receiving / inventory transactions in computer system.

Read, write and speak English.


Knowledge:

Strong knowledge of inventory processes including storing, receiving, packaging, preserving, issuing, shipping, transferring, and inventory control.

General knowledge of inventory parts used in assigned area preferred.


Minimum Education and Certification:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid Driver's License and good driving record.


Forklift operator certification.


Minimum Experience:

Typically at least 5 years related purchasing, parts, warehousing, or inventory experience.

Experience with inventory management systems, preferably with Oracle.

Some experience in gas compression or related industry preferred.


Leadership:

Expected to serve as a resource to others for knowledge transfer, training and checking work.

May occasionally lead a team.

Must be fit for duty for the job tasks being performed.

Must meet the medical requirements necessary to wear PPE required by role.
Constantly required to stand, display good manual dexterity and to reach with hands and arms.
Frequently required to talk and hear.
Frequently required to walk with good balance.
Regularly required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds and to push and pull up to 110 pounds.
Occasionally required to stoop, twist, kneel, and squat.
Occasionally required to crawl, climb in and around equipment, stairs and slanted ladders.
Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Develops solutions to problems either of limited scope, low complexity or with precedents.

May suggest and implement process improvements within scope of role.
