Master Mechanic

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintains department equipment, including performing preventative maintenance and

repair, diagnosing issues, and performing major repairs, on all mechanical, hydraulic, and

pneumatic equipment as needed.

• Ensures appropriate use of department equipment, including observing and instructing

plant personnel and safe and proper use of equipment.

• Operates a variety of hand and/or power tools in performance of duties, including, but not

limited to, hammer, screwdriver, wrench, drill, power saw, air nozzle, ratchet, mop,

gauge, tool, and other tools as needed.

• Operates a variety of equipment in performance of duties, including, but not limited to,

pallet jack, fork lift, grinder, drill press, cutting torch, and other equipment as needed.

• Installs new equipment and monitors, ensuring proper integration and function.

• Performs related duties as assigned.

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or GED

Skills and Experience:

o Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in maintenance

o Working knowledge of and ability to make practical application of department

safety policies and procedures, including OSHA guidelines.

o Practical knowledge of wastewater plant operations and maintenance with ability

to monitor wastewater plant areas and ensure proper operation and function of all

equipment.

o Ability to operate a variety of hand and/or power tools and equipment as needed.

o Ability to read/interpret detailed specifications in the form of blueprints or

manuals

o Ability to occasionally work extended hours, evenings, and weekends as well as

respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis.
