The Yacht Rigger is seeking an experienced Marine Electrician to join our Electrical Department. This position focuses primarily on electrical installations, troubleshooting, and upgrades aboard sail and power vessels, with additional work in marine plumbing and air conditioning as needed. Candidates with marine HVAC experience or ABYC certification are highly preferred. Pay is based on experience and certifications.
- Perform electrical diagnostics, repairs, and installations aboard a wide range of vessels.
- Run, terminate, and label DC and AC wiring to ABYC standards.
- Install and commission marine electrical components, including chargers, inverters, distribution panels, battery banks, and monitoring systems.
- Replace or upgrade marine air conditioning units and associated plumbing.
- Work closely with the Electrical Team Manager and other technicians to complete projects efficiently and with a high standard of craftsmanship.
- Maintain tidy, organized workspaces and uphold The Yacht Rigger’s professional standards.
- Strong understanding of DC and AC electrical systems aboard boats.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot electrical issues independently.
- Attention to detail and pride in clean, well-organized installations.
- Effective communication with project managers and team members.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- ABYC Marine Electrical certification.
- Experience installing or servicing marine air conditioning systems.
- Familiarity with marine plumbing (raw water systems, strainers, pumps, seacocks, PEX).
- Hands-on boating experience, preferably sailboats or cruising vessels.
- Pay: Based on experience, starting at $25/hr and up.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–4:30 PM (guaranteed 40 hours/week, 51 weeks/year).
