The Manufacturing Engineer will be a member of our operations team, supporting the assembly and test of our Subsurface Compressor System (SCS), including the motor, magnetic couplings, compressor and other associated parts. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for routers, work instructions, tooling, corrective actions, and process standards with the charge to ensure assemblies are delivered on time and fully comply with technical drawing requirements. The Manufacturing Engineer will work with shop personnel and engineering to improve quality and cycle time, as well as introduction of new products to the shop floor.
- Creation of work instructions and process data collection through MES.
- Design tooling and fixtures and specify capital equipment to support product fabrication and assembly. This includes follow-through with fabrication of tooling and fixtures by internal and external suppliers and purchase of capital equipment.
- Determine appropriate manufacturing methods for the SCS and related components, including new designs and modification of existing designs.
- Assist in dispositioning discrepant material.
- Ensure all parts are compliant with technical drawing requirements and quality standards.
- Assess and reduce process and safety risk through FMEA and HARC.
- Design of work centers to improve productivity, quality, and flexibility.
- Work with Procurement, Engineering, and Project Management to identify opportunities for quality and productivity improvement.
- Requires a B.S. degree in a technical field (Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering preferred) or equivalent combination of education/experience.
- A minimum of 2 years related experience required.
- Experienced with low-volume, high-complexity assembly and system testing. Turbomachinery, balancing, precision assembly, precision inspection, LabView, desirable.
- Tooling design and process simulation using CAD modeling and GD&T toleranced drawings. Solidworks a plus.
- Experience creating and improving work instructions.
- Experience working in ISO9001 or similar environment including awareness of document control and change management procedures.
- Familiar with creating BOMs & Routers within an ERP system. Experience with Global Shop is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with metrology equipment.
- Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
