Summary

Under limited Supervision, this position is responsible for performing multi-skilled journey level technical work within the Facilities Operations & Maintenance division. Includes layout, installation, troubleshooting, operation, maintenance, and repair of industrial and commercial equipment. The scope of maintenance functions within this position includes varying aspects of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) and building operations disciplines within SRP facilities and may not necessarily be listed in the bullets below, but are expected of this position. In addition to defined duties there are varying levels of other maintenance and operations tasks dictated by the requirements of the specific facilities.

What You'll Do

1. Plumbing – Perform reactive and preventative maintenance of water, waste, air, gas, and other piping systems and the devices/fixtures associated with the systems. Install, repair, test, can certify proper operation of backflow prevention devices in accordance with municipal pluming code requirements.

2. Mechanical – Related to building systems such as heat, A/C, and appliance repair.

3. Electrical - Minor electrical including outlet repair, lighting, wiring, breaker shut off etc. generally 480V and below.

4. Building Operations – Doors and hardware, walls and wallcoverings, flooring, building systems furniture

5. Performs operations and maintenance work as necessary to support facilities requirements.

6. Estimates, schedules, and performs work assigned, determining the necessary manpower, tools, equipment, and material to do the assigned work. Performs accurate cost estimates and project schedules on multi-discipline job.

7. Troubleshoots complex problems and provides specialized technical services such as interpreting blueprints, identifying potential areas of operations concern, or providing support for special projects.

8. Guides and inspects job site activities to maintain proper utilization of people, tools, equipment, and material.

9. Identifies obstacles during the planning process, develops contingencies, and recommends solutions with appropriate actions. Performs job walks and construction inspection meetings as required.

10. Performs related work as assigned.

Additional Information:

- Appropriate respirator medical certification, fit testing and training required.

- Must have valid Arizona Operator’s license.

- Required to become certified on various pieces of equipment, including personnel lifting equipment.

- Work schedule includes a rotating 2nd shift, on call work, seasonal scheduled weekend shift work, occasional mandatory overtime, and occasional travel.

Experience

- Completion of Facilities Building Specialist job training program

- Five (5) years Facilities multi-skill building experience

- Five (5) years related in construction related trade such as C&M.

- Three (3) years of technical experience in assigned area of responsibility; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
