Today's North Charleston Sewer District was originally established in 1972 by an Act of the South Carolina General Assembly. Previously, wastewater collection and treatment in the North Area were accomplished by a consolidated public service district. Now operating under a nine-member Commission, the District is committed to "...construction, operation, maintenance and enlargement of...sewers and sewage treatment and disposal...necessary to protect the health of those living in the District, and to provide for the collection, treatment and disposal of sewage and industrial effluent."
The North Charleston Sewer District is looking to add a Maintenance Technician position in our Buildings & Grounds Department effective immediately.
· Takes care of grounds at many locations including but not limited to: mowing, weed eating, edging, trimming bushes and tree branches, spraying weed killer, and repairing any damage to the landscaping.
· Installs, takes down, and repairs chain link and wooden fencing around buildings.
· Performs routine preventive maintenance such as changing water filters, air filters, light bulbs, light fixtures lube locks, etc.; and replacing photo cells, replace fan belts, etc.
· One (1) year of related experience that includes purchasing and inventory control; or
· Able to use or learn to use a variety of tools such as voltmeter, vacuum gauge check pressure on HVAC drill, hand tools, pliers, screwdrivers, ladders, etc.; a variety of supplies such as light bulbs, light ballast, electrical wire/outlets, plumbing supplies, general office supplies, etc.; a variety of equipment, vehicles, and machinery such as lawn mowers, weed eaters, edgers, blowers, chemical sprayers, chainsaws, etc.; and a variety of computer software and hardware such as tablets.
Schedule: Monday to Thursday 6:30 am to 4:00 pm
