TEXAS LEHIGH CEMENT COMPANY - BUDA, TX
The Maintenance Technician, reporting to the Maintenance team Supervisor will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment that is both corrective and planned downtime maintenance of the plant.
- Install, tests, maintains, and repairs all mechanical equipment in accordance with specifications; fits, assembles, erects, and installs.
- Perform planned and corrective maintenance activities communicating findings to the reliability maintenance team to ensure optimal operation of plant equipment.
- Use welding and cutting equipment to create and modify machine parts for repairs and improvements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals as needed.
- Utilize hand tools, precision measuring devices, and heavy equipment (i.e. dial indicators, alignment tools, cranes, manlifts, and forklifts.)
- Collaborate with other maintenance and operations staff to ensure smooth plant operations.
- Follow and support all company safety policy and practices, participating in toolbox talks, area inspections, and improvement recommendations.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Document maintenance activities and report any issues to the maintenance supervisor and/or superintendent.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- Understanding of cement processes and common equipment such as crushers, raw mills, bucket elevators, motor and fan balancing, alignments, belt replacement and dust collectors.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to read and understand English adhering to all company and plant safety policies and procedures and duties, responsibilities and instruction of the scope of work assigned.
- Ability to work at heights and confined spaces.
- Ability to work shift work, extended hours, weekends, holidays, and answer call outs.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in mechanical maintenance is preferred.
- 2 -4 years of experience as a mechanical repairman/technician/millwright, preferably in a cement or similar heavy industrial environment.
- Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, turning, climbing to a significant degree, and/or pulling of controls.
- Heavy work-exerting up to 100 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
