Position Summary:
Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Maintenance Specialist - Instrument is responsible for hands on support of maintenance personnel, identifying refinery threats and execution of reliability initiatives to improve overall asset performance. This position will focus on asset performance, training and procedure development for specialized equipment, and continuous improvement to predictive and preventative maintenance programs. The Maintenance Specialist - Instrument identifies efficient work execution practices and drives solutions to plant reliability risks.
Responsibilities:
•Define and implement trade specific maintenance practices, ensuring job plans are accurate by working closely with planning;
•Works collaboratively with Engineering and Process Engineering Services to define and implement improvement opportunities to improve overall facility;
•Develops and delivers NWR training content for specialized maintenance trade requirements;
•Ensures that the NWR Maintenance Procedures and practices are in place and ensures adherence to Procedure Lifecycle Management standard;
•Set expectations, ensures compliance, and maintains a culture of Goal Zero through NWR HSE policies;
•Monitor and provide input to maintenance KPI’s;
•Supports Turnaround execution strategies and optimizing asset performance to extend turnaround intervals;
•Focal for equipment vendor support and providing guidance to field technicians troubleshooting issues including check sheets and reporting audits;
•Supports the EOC and Maintenance on call rotation to support plant emergencies;
•Support the Maintenance Superintendent in the development of the yearly regulatory compliance and Preventative Maintenance schedule;
•Develop and report improvement opportunities to the Maintenance Superintendent;
•Leads incident investigations in area of accountability, and ensures action items are completed and lessons learned effectively communicated;
•Promote and facilitate good communications among all groups -NWR departments and sub-contractors;
•Ensure all relevant Quality documentation is prepared and completed in accordance with NWR procedures;
•Supports the Engineering and project teams with MOC improvements and implementation plans;
•Require and encourage employees to report hazards, unsafe work practices, dangerous occurrences and all injuries, no matter how insignificant they may seem;
•Participate in regular safety audits / inspections;
•Assist with quality system audits and compliance;
•All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
•Understands, creates and maintains a visible commitment to process and personal safety, as well as the safety of others; adheres to NWR’s Core Competencies to drive results and a high performing culture;
•Minimum 10 – 15 years Maintenance Discipline specific experience;
•Demonstrated track record in successful execution of maintenance activities;
•Possess excellent communication, observation, and analytical skills;
•Ability to work flexible hours to meet the responsibilities to complete the task;
•Ability to work in a high pressure environment;
•A demonstrable track record in successful maintenance preparation and planning;
•Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance delivery methods, planning and schedule compliance;
•Strong communication skills.
