Hourly Starting Salary Range: $26.85 to $33.83 (DOQ)
Normal Work Hours: Day Shift 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, M-F, with some overtime required.
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, and working as part of a team, performs the duties of a lead mechanic in the repair and preventative maintenance of all District water and wastewater treatment plants, transmission and collection lines, other facilities, and equipment.
- Maintains water treatment plants and transmission systems by performing repairs and maintenance on all equipment and facilities to include lighting, minor electrical, and building appurtenances.
- Maintains wastewater reclamation plants and collection systems by performing repairs and maintenance on all equipment and facilities, to include lift stations.
- Coordinates and oversees various vendor and contractor activities as they relate to repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment. Assists in the procurement and delivery of parts and materials needed to repair and maintain facilities and equipment.
- Performs pipeline maintenance, general painting and marking. Repair leaks, repair/replace valves, flush collection, and distribution systems.
- Leads and instructs Maintenance Workers in the completion of tasks.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience relating to the repair and maintenance of water or wastewater treatment facilities, transmission or collection systems, or related equipment is required. (A combination of experience or certification working on similarly complex mechanical systems may substitute for a portion of directly related water and/or wastewater utility experience)
- Must possess, a TCEQ Class ‘C’ Surface Water or Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification
- Must be able to read, interpret and follow mechanical and technical manuals.
- Must be able to lead and instruct other maintenance personnel in the completion of tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Frequent walk, bend, squat, climb, and kneel.
