Position Description: MAINTENANCE MECHANIC - ELECTRICIAN

General Statement:

Must be skilled in and must hold a valid electrician’s license.

Supervision:

Works under the supervision of the Maintenance Operations Manager, who assigns work and checks for quality. Must be able to diagnose and remedy problems with minimal supervision.

Example of Duties:

•

Install electrical systems and/or make repairs to electrical equipment, appliances, heating systems, ranges, and refrigerators, etc. in accordance with the normal practices of the electric trade.

•

Must be familiar with and adhere to local and state building codes and laws and insurance regulation. Must acquire proper building permits at CHA expensed when applicable.

•

Ability to paint when required.

•

Ability to perform grounds work such as grass and shrub cutting and trimming, weeding, snow shoveling and/or plowing when required.

•

Any other duties assigned by the Maintenance Operations Manager when required, or any other work the employee is capable of performing.

Qualifications:

•

Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.

•

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches and the ability to work from oral and written instructions.

•

Ability to make estimates of time and material requirements in planning of work.

•

Ability to instruct and direct the work of Mechanic Aides or Maintenance Aides.

•

Ability to climb and to work from scaffolding and/or ladders some distance from the ground to floors.

•

Must maintain an electrician’s license.

•

Considerable knowledge of the tools, materials, methods, and standard practices used in the trade.

•

Ability to work with a diverse population of residents of the Chicopee Housing Authority and to perform a public service which will reflect a credit on the Chicopee Housing Authority.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.83 per hour
