The Position
Maintenance Electrical Planner
Job Summary JOB PURPOSE (Job Objective) Responsible for improving the planning and scheduling efficiency of the department by planning and organizing the activities related to maintenance, repairs and improvements to plant equipment and facilities and lead short-term and long-range planning. Responsible for making the most effective use of resources, facilities and equipment while producing the essential handoff from planning to execution. DIMENSIONS (Facts and Figures) The jobholder is responsible for all of the electrical organization and planning of activities in the Maintenance Department by communication with the other members of the Operations and Maintenance teams. CONTEXT (Nature and Scope of Activities)
- Preparation and planning for all of the electrical predictive/preventive and scheduled jobs completed in maintenance.
- Order and track the necessary parts, tools, equipment and resources needed to complete the jobs that are planned.
- Collaborate with the Storeroom supervisor on ordering/receiving parts per company guidelines.
- Complete planning including parts, safety, and resources for contracted work.
- Receive quotes for all contracted work.
- Convert job requests made by plant employees to Work Orders and plan the jobs.
- Establish a partnership with Production for the planning and release of the equipment.
- Work with the Mechanical Planner to provide a weekly Maintenance plan that is ready to be executed.
- Lead a weekly meeting presenting the weekly plan to production.
- Analyze the time differences between planned job time and actual job time.
- Correct the work procedures in the CMMS to take into account any changes that need to be made to the planned hours for jobs.
- Assess and control needs for critical spare parts.
- Work with Storeroom supervisor to create and sustain a kitting process for all planned jobs.
- Assist in managing all the electrical documentation, technical files and drawings of new installations with a particular focus on predictive / preventative maintenance planning.
- Assist in development of the budget.
- Assist with the development of the plant's SAP CMMS.
- Active participation in meetings and discussions on reliability and maintenance strategy – Making suggestions to optimize the predictive / preventative maintenance process.
- Take part in the choice of new equipment.
- Assist in making sure the planned maintenance electrical work procedures are up to date and account for the health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Work with Trades to create PMs for new/modified equipment.
- Expected to participate as a rotating Duty Manager and be on call for related activities.
- Facilitate the initiation of Work Permits for Planned Jobs.
- Fill in as vacation relief for department members.
- Report out on Weekly and Monthly KPIs.
- Train Maintenance Trades on the use of the plant's CMMS.
- Co-owner of the plants CMMS
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KEY RESULT AREAS (Major Objectives)
∙ Safety – Proper Permits and Procedures attached to each job. Manage the safety work order system to assure that jobs are completed in a timely manner. Implementation of electrical safety guidelines and procedures for electrical work is compliant with NEC, MSHA, NFPA 70E and Company Safety Regulations. ∙ Personnel – Development through training on-the-job and formal / informal training.- Equipment – Ensure PMs are updated in the CMMS. Ensure that predictive / preventative maintenance jobs are completed in a timely fashion to limit the amount of unplanned work in the plant and increase reliability.
- Planning – Prepare job and shutdown schedules to coordinate with Production operations. Implement the maintenance work in a timely manner to achieve plant goals.
∙ Budget – Maintain the documentation for planned jobs so that Budgets for manpower and costs can be as accurate as possible. Assist in the development of the long term maintenance plan. Also need effective time management skills to meet planning/scheduling deadlines.
- Manages the amount of outstanding planned maintenance work.
- Quality – Ensure that the Electrical work conforms to the standards and guidelines established in the ISO 9002 quality assurance manual
- Environment – Ensure compliance to the plant operating permit.
- Shutdowns – Lead the planning of plant Shutdowns.
