We are seeking a Maintenance Planner to join our Team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating resources, parts, materials, equipment access, and schedules to reduce downtime and improve reliability. The role is based at our Winnemucca, NV office during construction and transition to the Thacker Pass Project during commissioning and throughout production and will report to the Maintenance Manager. Occasional travel to other LAC offices, project sites, or vendor locations may be required.
- Develop and maintain detailed job plans with safety as the primary consideration.
- Plan and coordinate all scheduled maintenance and minor construction activities.
- Identify required permits, labor, materials, equipment, costs, and contract services for each task.
- Reserve stock items and requisition services and materials.
- Develop, update, and maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM) and standard task lists for assets.
- Assist with supply chain coordination (Materials Management, Procurement, and Kitting).
- Regularly visit work sites to scope jobs and assess progress.
- Determine appropriate planning level and work sequence for all maintenance tasks.
- Assign proper codes during work identification, control, and planning phases.
- Prepare and communicate planned work packages for the weekly schedule.
- Attend relevant planning and scheduling meetings (e.g. Weekly Scheduling, Plan of the Day).
- Support maintenance supervisors with job scoping and information sharing.
- Collaborate with other planners and cross-functional teams (e.g., Supply Chain, Procurement) to ensure aligned work execution.
- Analyze work order feedback and implement lessons learned for continuous improvement.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and adjust planning as needed.
- Develop reports and track key metrics such as labor/material estimate accuracy, backlog size, and completion percentages.
- Provide updates and flag critical issues to the Maintenance Manager.
- Assist in budgeting, tracking, and analytical tasks related to maintenance planning.
- Builds and maintains trusted relationships across all teams while championing a culture that reflects and supports our Purpose, Vision, and Values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 3–5 years of practical maintenance planning experience, including parts recognition.
- Formal maintenance planner training preferred.
- Proficient in Maintenance CMMS such as SAP S/4, HANA, etc.
- Strong ability to interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment drawings, predictive maintenance reports, and electrical/hydraulic schematics.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Advanced computer skills.
- Ability to work well with company and vendor personnel.
- Good communication skills, including phone, email, writing, etc.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining a safe work culture.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Projects and/or Primavera P6 is a plus.
