Modesto Irrigation District is currently recruiting to fill one full-time regular position in the Line Construction Department, Transmission & Distribution Division to perform construction and maintenance work on overhead and underground electric transmission and distribution system components. Work performed may be on energized circuits.Any qualified individual may apply. This is a non-exempt position and is part of the Utility Services and Maintenance Bargaining Unit. The list established as a result of this recruitment may be used to fill other Journey-level Lineworker vacancies that may occur within the District through December 8, 2026.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Perform construction and maintenance work on overhead and underground electric transmission and distribution system components, and all associated equipment; Load, transport and unload materials, tools and equipment; Trim trees to clear electrical lines in emergencies; Climb wood poles and metal poles and towers; Operate aerial lift, digger/derrick, cable and conductor pulling and tensioning equipment; Inspect assigned vehicles and equipment to ensure safe working conditions and perform minor maintenance when required; Observe Safety Rules; Perform overtime and/or emergency work.Lineworkers are normally assigned to work as a member of a crew, but may be assigned to work alone.Other Related DutiesOther duties as assigned.
