Linespotter I $27.18 Per Hour

SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision, locates and marks underground plant facilities to prevent damage to utilities and to prevent injuries.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Locates and marks underground facilities as requested to prevent damage by other excavating contractors and individuals

Complies with OSHA and D.O.T. requirements

Maintains accurate records of work performed

Develops knowledge of other utility underground construction practices

Checks and repairs damaged coating on lines

Reports to coordinator or supervisor any unusual problems pertaining to facilities

Maintains locating equipment to ensure accurate operating condition

Works closely with other areas such as Construction, Inspectors, Drafting, and Leak Survey

Keeps miss-spots to a minimum

COMPETENCIES:

Ability to operate department line locating equipment, which may include: the pipe horn, Nilsson, Radio Detection and/or Metro Tech

Ability to read maps and drawings

Ability to coordinate scheduling

Ability to communicate, cooperate, and gain the cooperation of others

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or GED with one to three years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:

Must have valid New Mexico drivers license.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos

Ability to write complex correspondence

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Ability to use general office equipment, a personal computer, and word processing software

ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit and/or stand up to 2/3 of the time. Manual dexterity required and the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, clime, talk, and listen. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

SUMMARY:

Assists all areas in Linespotting

Completes assignments within a required time frame

Maintains accurate records of work performed

Develops knowledge of other utility underground construction practices

Checks and repairs damaged coating on lines

Reports to coordinator any unusual problems pertaining to facilities

Maintains locating equipment to ensure accurate operating condition

Works closely with other areas such as Construction, Inspectors, Drafting, and Leak Survey

Keeps miss-spots to a minimum

Common knowledge of other utility linespotting procedures

Ability to operate department line locating equipment, which may include the pipe horn, Nilsson, Radio Detection, and/or Metro Tech

Ability to operate gas scope along with linespotting equipment

Ability to communicate, cooperate, and gain the cooperation of others

SUMMARY:

Under direct supervision, locates and marks underground plant facilities to prevent damage to utilities and to prevent injuries.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists coordinator in routing workload and keeping files updated.

Locates and marks underground facilities as requested to prevent damage by other excavating contractors and individuals.

Assists all areas in Linespotting.

Assists spotters with any problems that arise.

Maintains accurate records of work performed and coordinates special projects.

Develops knowledge of other utility underground construction practices.

Meets department goals and accepts responsibilities with little or no immediate supervision.

Checks and repairs damaged coating on lines.

Reports to coordinator any unusual problems pertaining to facilities.

Maintains locating equipment to ensure accurate operating condition.

Works closely with other areas such as Construction, Inspectors, Drafting, and Leak Survey.

COMPETENCIES:

Ability to operate line-locating equipment including the pipe horn, Nilsson and Metro Tech, and the sub, site 650.

Ability to read and update maps and drawings, services, and main cards.

Ability to find any information needed from the Drafting Department.

Ability to coordinate scheduling.

Ability to operate gas scope along with linespotting equipment.

Ability to communicate, cooperate, and gain the cooperation of others.

QUALIFICATIONS
