Coterra is hiring a Lease and Title Analyst in Houston, Texas
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Lease and Title Analyst for Coterra, you will review, analyze, verify, and set up oil and gas leases and contracts into P2 Land as it relates to land and mineral ownership and contractual rights. This position reports to the Leases and Contracts Manager and is located onsite at our Houston, Texas headquarters.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Reconciling receipt and clearance of rental obligation payments from partners as processed from P2 Land E-calendar and Payments Modules.
•Contact partners on non-operated properties to verify payment of obligations and to obtain information for maintenance of those properties.
•Review of public and internal databases/software and internet-based subscriptions to keep records accurate and up-to-date.
•Responsible for the recordation of instruments associated with an oil and gas lease, primarily Release of Oil & Gas Leases.
•Interpret, set up and maintain mineral and surface leases, contracts and company owned lands within P2 Land to include accurate identification of provisions, obligations, and related documents.
•Review deeds, assignments, and related agreements to process ownership changes in P2 related to lease maintenance.
•Assists in the monitoring and coordination of recommendations made in E-calendar as related obligations, rentals, expirations, and minimum royalties.
•Review and confirm payment of invoices for rentals and minimum royalty payments as they become due for OBOs.
•Review and update the status of leases and contracts due to well completions, well plugging or other well status changes for OBO properties and take appropriate action, if necessary.
•Collaborate with Division Order Analysts to ensure that lease records and division order records reflect most updated title data.
•Some knowledge of calculation of working interests, net revenue, royalty and overriding interests.
•Effectively and cooperatively interfaces with other departments within the company, including but not limited to, the Business Units and Accounting.
•Assist with research for special projects, system cleanup and other duties as required.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
•Some experience with a land management software system, preferably Tobin Land System or P2 Land.
•Some Knowledge with regards to lease and title issues, preferably in the Permian Basin, Anadarko Basin, the Marcellus Shale and state and Federal Agencies.
•Established proficiency with Microsoft Office required, with emphasis on Excel, Word and Dynamics.
•Must be goal oriented, approaching projects with a sense of urgency and drive.
•Must be a team player who possesses the ability to adapt to new technologies, workflows and processes.
•Ability to adapt and work within various peripheral and analytical software applications, such as Spotfire, Hyland OnBase and Microsoft Dynamics.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
•4-year college degree preferred, preferably in legal studies, finance, accounting, or business;
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
•0-5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry working as a Lease Analyst.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
•Less that 5% Some travel may be required for training purposes.
