The Lean Coach works directly with field operations, engineering, and leadership teams across the Permian (Midland, Carlsbad, Big Lake) to embed Lean Management principles, drive continuous improvement, and support organizational transformation efforts.
This role is 50% project management
(leading major Lean-driven initiatives) and
50% coaching(developing Lean Leaders and Lean Practitioners). The ideal candidate has prior Lean deployment experience—preferably within oil & gas—and demonstrates strong interpersonal maturity, communication skills, and the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
Travel is required between locations, reimbursed at actual expense.
• Lead large, complex Lean projects tied to strategic business objectives
• Identify, prioritize, and scope Lean initiatives that reduce waste and improve operational efficiency
• Partner with field operations, engineering, and cross-functional teams to drive end-to-end improvement
• Coordinate benefit calculation, tracking, and validation of project results
• Support continuous improvement efforts during organizational changes, mergers, and reorgs
• Facilitate workshops, field interviews, and office-based assessments to gather insights
• Train and coach Lean Practitioners (LPs) toward certification; typically 2–5 LPs per coach
• Deliver Lean Awareness and foundational Lean training in the field and office
• Model effective problem-solving and assist teams in identifying sources of downtime, waste, and inefficiency
• Travel to field locations to support interviews, observations, and on-site coaching
• Provide Lean Leader training for frontline supervisors and managers
• Coach leaders on engagement routines, Leader Standard Work, and continuous improvement behaviors
• Work closely with upper management to drive culture change and embed Lean principles
• Use strong communication skills to influence leaders, build trust, and drive alignment across diverse operational groups

2+ years of experience, preferably in oil & gas, operations, facilities, or related industry
• Experience working in or supporting a
Lean deployment• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to work effectively with field personnel and upper management
• Experience interfacing with field operations and engineering
• Ability to travel between Permian Basin locations as needed
• Comfortable working both in office settings and in the field
• Prior experience at major operators (e.g., Chevron, GE, Hess) or organizations with strong Lean cultures
