DEPARTMENT: Power Marketing – Kansas City Headquarters or Remote LOCATION: Kansas City, MO
Scheduled Work Hours: Monday – Friday with some weekend hours.
- Executes and manages financial trading strategies, primarily using financial products related to RTO/ISO markets.
- Analyzes and evaluates complex energy transactions to ensure that all factors including energy price, transmission, counterparty, and contractual terms are favorable and consistent with company risk management guidelines.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with customers.
- Working knowledge of FERC/NERC rules and regulations related to energy trading.
- Follows and adheres to FERC/NERC rules and regulations.
- Reserves transmission and/or transport for energy related products throughout the United States.
- Requires a bachelor's degree.
- Familiarity with both physical and financial traded products and deal structures.
- Understanding of electric system operations, scheduling, tagging, power flows, and generation technologies.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of managing congestion risk in transmission constrained electricity markets with a heavy emphasis in the following ISO’s: Southwest Power Pool, ERCOT, MISO
- Proficient in Nexant iHedge Software
- Possesses knowledge and application of both physical and financial energy products.
- A motivated self-starter who can work with little direct supervision and is capable of working in a high energy, high stress, and fast paced environment.
- A results oriented person who is able to maintain a positive attitude and thrive in a team environment.
- Possesses superior quantitative skills.
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in PC spreadsheet and industry software applications.
- Normal office working conditions.
- Overnight travel is required.
- Must have an exceptional work record including good attendance.
