The Lead Meter Technician plays a critical role in leading a regional team of technicians in addition to performing field service work. This position ensures meters are installed and serviced accurately and safely, while supporting team members in achieving their daily goals and promoting a strong team culture.
Key Responsibilities
Field & Technical Operations:
•Install, repair, and inspect water meters and meter reading equipment
•Perform accurate meter reads on regular schedule
•Complete site inspections and document work performed and materials used
•Troubleshoot leaks, pressure issues, and system malfunctions
•Maintain cleanliness and function of assigned company vehicle
•Deliver and pick up meters or components as needed
•Manage expense reports and administrative paperwork
•Ensure safety protocols are followed and issues are reported appropriately
Team Leadership:
•Lead, train, and support a team of Meter Technicians
•Provide regular coaching and feedback to drive team performance
•Manage timecards, approve time off, and ensure accurate timekeeping
•Communicate regularly with team to resolve issues and provide resources
•Support onboarding of new hires, including hands-on technical training
•Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and mutual respect
Skills and Qualifications
Education and Experience:
•High School Diploma or GED
•Minimum 2 years of field service, construction, or utility experience
•Previous leadership experience highly preferred
Licenses and Requirements:
•Valid driver’s license and clean DMV record (no more than one moving violation in past 3 years)
•Registered Service Agent (RSA) certification required within 30 days of hire
•Familiarity with hand tools and power tools
•Ability to effectively lead by example and communicate clearly across teams
•Comfort using mobile apps and digital tools for communication and reporting
Physical Requirements:
•Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
•Comfortable walking several miles per day
•Ability to crouch, climb ladders, and work outdoors in various weather conditions
•Able to sit for long periods while driving

Pay Rate: $32–35/hr, DOE
