Lead Mechanical Designer

Reports to Director of Innovation

Role Description:

o  We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Designer with expertise in AutoCAD Plant 3D for designing oil & gas skids. This role involves leading design efforts, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and delivering high-quality 3D models and fabrication drawings for complex skid assemblies. This role is hybrid based in either the greater Midland or Houston, TX areas.

Primary Duty:

o Develop 3D models, P&ID, GA, BoM, and ISO drawings for various oil & gas skid packages in AutoCAD Plant3D & Inventor

o Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) and part attributes connection to Dynamics ERP System

o Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to ensure design accuracy and compliance with ASME and API standards

o Maintain Plant 3D Master Project files, specs, and catalogs

o Support design handoff and review processes, ensuring quality and adherence to project timelines

o Support fabrication in reviewing & modifying designs to improve manufacturability

Qualifications:

o High School Diploma or equivalent

o 6+ years of experience in mechanical design for oil & gas projects using AutoCAD Plant3D

o Familiarity with P&ID development, skid layout & structural design, and ISO/Weld maps

o Strong understanding of ASME & API standards and skid design principles

o Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

o Ability to manage multiple projects and mentor junior designers

Preferred Qualifications

o Experience with parametric and rules-based design workflows

o Proficiency in AutoCAD Spec Editor and Project setup

o Familiarity with LACT, VRU, Gas Meter Run, and Pipeline Measurement skid design

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

o Work week is standard 8-5 in office with completion of duties requiring extended hours as needed

o Gather information needed to complete any assigned tasks

o Review drawings for completeness, accuracy, and compliance from cited specifications

o Revise drawings and markups when necessary

o Participate in project meetings and conference calls from customers regarding ongoing projects.

o Follow all company filed safety procedures and protocols
