The Hydrodynamics Engineer is responsible for developing the Ship Motion Models our customers will use in the Simulation Tools, creating an immersive and unique experience.
This is a hybrid position, offering flexibility while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
- Development of Database of Ship Motion Models.
- Analysis and evaluation of initial data provided for model development.
- Evaluation and forecasting of the ship's manoeuvring and seaworthiness.
- Model setting.
- Primary testing.
- Creation of development report.
- Support and review technical queries from customers and help position potential solutions to the problem.
- Interaction with the support group, experts, and simulator developers for investigating and solving the problems.
- Direct adjustment of the model database to solve reported problems and to provide required. improvements
- Timely reporting using the correct formats to keep the organisation informed.
- Contributing to product improvements: model development tool, mathematical model algorithms and simulator.
- Supporting and improvement and filling database of the ship manoeuvring properties.
- University Degree in a Technical Discipline
- Strong understanding of marine charts, navigation terms and expressions.
- Must be willing to travel.
- At least 1 year experience with Wartsila's Model Wizard/Virtual Shipyard hydrodynamic model ship design is required for this position.
- 3+ years' experience of ship design or research preferred.- Subject matter expertise in ship design, ship theory and hydrodynamics.
- Prior experience supporting Navy or NAWCTSD programs is required.
- Candidates must be a US citizen with the ability obtain and retain a Common Access card.
