The engineering lead, gas distribution engineering provides highly technical engineering services and direction for individuals within gas distribution engineering. Responsibilities include planning and setting work objectives for others, providing complex technical solutions for distribution projects, and providing project management oversight in terms of planning, budgeting, designing, and construction of gas distribution facilities. Provides leadership, manages resources and provides capital budget support.
Provide advanced engineering services for the planning, design, and construction of gas distribution projects. Directs, coordinates, and reviews work activities and work product of engineers and engineering technicians. Provide technical project management for all phases of a project including design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, scheduling, cost tracking and project cost projections. Provide interpretation and consistency in the application of the company's tariffs and policies concerning the extension, relocation and removal of the company's gas distribution facilities. Oversee or conduct advanced engineering studies and complex investigations, prepare oral and written reports of results, and provide recommendations from the studies/investigations. Provides internal training and advanced engineering assistance for distribution engineering personnel and other departments. Responsibilities may include including training development, internal and external presentations, chairing committees, and perform any additional responsibilities as requested. Develops well-documented work and system processes to support communications, workflow, and project scheduling. Develop and maintain relationships with government staffs, customers, developers, builders, electricians, plumbers and others who directly affect the need and use of our gas facilities. Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques.
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.). Six years of successful industry experience in engineering or related field. Effective verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Advanced degree is preferred. Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Advanced project management skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. Must be able to meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Effectively accepts, supports and works with others and effectively manages conflict to promote teamwork and cooperation.
