🎯 Position Summary
The
Land Technician
plays a critical, mid-level role in supporting the execution of Land projects by maintaining accurate Lease and Acquisition records, managing key deadlines, and ensuring that all Land-related documentation is organized, current, and compliant. This position requires a high level of technical proficiency, data awareness, and operational consistency.
Working closely with Senior Landmen, the Land Technician will support acquisition efforts, maintain internal databases, manage contractual obligations, and assist in facilitating Land-related payments, mailings, and reporting.
This is a dynamic, fast-paced role for someone who thrives in detail-driven environments and has prior experience supporting Land or Title teams within the Oil & Gas industry.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
Lease & Acquisition File Management
•Build and create comprehensive Lease, Prospect, and Acquisition files (digital and physical)
•Ensure all Oil & Gas Mineral Leases, Title Opinions, Deeds, Assignments, and related documentation are complete, categorized, and easily retrievable
•Audit files for accuracy and version control prior to internal or client use
Database & Document System Management
•Update internal Land databases with new Lease agreements, amendments, curative materials, and acquisition data
•Ability to draft and create templates, edit legal descriptions, and draft tract descriptions
•Upload and route executed documents into the internal document management system
•Track key contractual obligations, payment terms, expiration dates, and option periods
Project & Compliance Support
•Conduct research and review Land files to support acquisition and due diligence efforts
•Monitor outstanding documents and coordinate follow-up with brokers or field agents
•Ensure accurate and timely submission of payment requests related to Lease obligations or acquisition activities
•Draft and prepare professional letters, correspondence, and documentation for project mail-outs
Team Collaboration
•Act as a day-to-day resource for the Land Department, coordinating administrative and technical support
•Assist with tracking and reporting project status, including updates to spreadsheets, summaries, and internal reports
•Maintain clear and proactive communication with internal team members regarding document needs, project updates, and deadline tracking
✅ Qualifications
•Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year accredited college or university (required)
•Minimum 2 years of experience in Land Administration, Title, or Lease Records (Oil & Gas industry preferred)
•Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and OneDrive
•Experience working with Land databases, file systems, and document management platforms
•Excellent organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail
•Strong written and verbal communication abilities
•Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with consistency and accuracy
•Full-time, on-site availability Monday through Friday is required
