Position Overview:
The Land Surveying CAD Technician Manager uses CAD/Carlson software to create, modify, and analyze project survey data. Vital role in bringing our raw survey data into clear, accurate, and impactful drawings. Collaborate closely with licensed surveyors and engineers, utilizing expertise in CAD software to process field data, generate detailed maps and plats, and contribute to successfully executing a diverse range of projects. Accurately process field survey data, including topographic surveys, boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, and construction staking data, into professional CAD drawings and assist in developing and implementing CAD standards and workflows to improve efficiency and consistency within the team. Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Leadership:
•Drive financial and operational excellence through strategic planning, team leadership, and execution of key objectives.
•Optimize surveying operations by implementing best practices, managing budgets, and improving performance metrics.
•Lead and mentor area operations managers, field teams, and design managers to ensure efficient and high-quality service delivery.
•Assist in hiring, training, and mentoring field and office staff to grow the surveying department.
•Ensure strong stakeholder management, maintaining trust and collaboration with clients, builders, and trade partners.
•Travel within the Central Region, with occasional travel to other states or markets as necessary.
Surveying & Technical Expertise:
•Conduct, review, and approve surveys to determine property boundaries, topography, and other essential site data.
•Perform deed research and collaborate with title research firms to establish boundaries and verify data.
•Utilize and train teams on AutoCAD, SurveyStars, GIS, GPS, and other surveying tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
•Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local surveying regulations, including Oklahoma’s Minimum Standards of Practice.
•Review and seal survey work in compliance with regulatory requirements.
•Provide expert opinions and investigative reports for land surveying projects.
•Research and integrate emerging surveying technologies into operations.
Client & Business Development:
•Maintain and expand client relationships by delivering high-quality services and solutions.
•Assist in developing proposals for land surveying projects.
•Contribute to business growth by identifying opportunities, optimizing resources, and executing effective sales strategies.
Quality Assurance & Risk Management:
•Ensure quality control, risk management, and compliance with legal and safety standards for all survey-related work.
•Support and implement new services to enhance surveying capabilities.
•Collaborate with leadership to set goals and operational standards, ensuring alignment with best practices.
Requirements:
Qualifications & Experience:
•5+ years of construction consulting and surveying experience required.
•10+ years as a Professional Land Surveyor in Oklahoma, with expertise in boundary and topographic surveys.
•2+ years of project management experience.
•Bachelor's degree preferred.
•Oklahoma Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License required.
•Strong financial, technical, and leadership skills.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
•This role will be split between fieldwork and an office environment (Houston or San Antonio).
•Requires frequent travel across the Central Region.
•Must be able to traverse active construction sites and lift equipment up to 60 lbs.
•Full-time position, Monday–Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed.
