Job Description:

Reporting to the Land Manager, the Land Representative is responsible for sourcing and contracting project sites for solar installations during the pre-development phase. During the development, construction and operations phases, the Land Representative is responsible for supporting the Project Developers and Technical Team in all land and real estate matters associated with the solar project related to contracts, title, curative, due diligence and landowner relations.

Duties and responsibilities notably include but are not limited to:


Highest priority:

· Identifying large parcels of land, roof tops and parking lots suitable for solar farms.

· Assessing each site’s economic and regulatory feasibility.

· Approaching site owners through online research, mailing, calling, in person visits and any other relevant means.

· Conducting compelling lease and/or purchase presentations to site owners, including project scope and timeline.

· Negotiating the site lease or purchase agreement with landowners and lawyers.

· Preparing an internal presentation to trigger the project through the development process.

· Performing initial due diligence steps on the sites secured, including title research, preliminary interconnection research and municipality zoning issues.

· Providing land support to multidisciplinary teams including development, legal, finance, construction and operations to help stakeholders make informed, strategic business decisions on land and real estate matters.

· Maintaining customer relationship with landowners through development, construction and operation of the solar project.


On-going initiatives:

· Securing front line market intelligence, exploring new market segments, assessing their viability and communicating findings and recommendations to the broader organization.

· Keeping abreast of the governmental programs and incentives in the various states, of relevant electricity prices, of all applicable renewable energy credit value as well as of any local regulatory issues relevant to solar projects.

· Contacting key decision makers, notably in municipalities and utility companies

· Following-up on administrative issues (insurance, reporting, etc.)


Desired Skills and experience:

· Minimum of 2 years proven negotiating experience in sales/leasing, preferably in the energy (solar or other) and/or real estate worlds.

· Experience with title, curative and due diligence in mid- to late- stage development projects.

· Hunger for prospecting and creatively finding ways around apparent obstacles.

· Computer competence (MS Office); familiarity with GIS positive but not required.

· Excellent interpersonal skills – strong listening capacity and an ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders.

· Desire to learn and provide/accept feedback: Ask questions and seeks out knowledge from varying Land and Development professionals to truly learn the renewables business. Also willing to provide feedback and input to team members, as well as receive feedback.

· Planning and organizing: Establish courses of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently.

· Teamwork: Operate in a team environment and participate in cross-functional teams to solve business problems.

· Contract interpretation/drafting/problem solving: Review contracts to determine what is acceptable or unacceptable to CVE. Draft contracts to effectively accomplish business objectives that are acceptable to CVE.

· Independent, organized, self-starter, hungry to achieve results in a fast-growing company.


· Honesty and transparency.

· Fast and willing learner (to be able to identify a great solar site).


· Valid US driver’s license.

· Ability to frequently travel (including overnight) to visit potential sites and landowners, as well as travel to our NYC Corporate office.
