The Landman will be responsible for assisting in routine to moderately complex land matters for oil and gas exploration and production activities. Working within an interdisciplinary team, the role will manage a drilling and operations schedule that supports the company’s goals and objectives. The role involves providing support in the evaluation and acquisition of oil and gas leases including determination of mineral and leasehold ownership. The role reviews title opinion and regulatory requirements, and consults with attorneys, other land professionals, and various stakeholders to resolve title issues, mitigate risks, and streamline processes. The role involves the drafting, negotiation, interpretation, and maintenance of all agreements related to exploration and production, with a strong emphasis on commercial transactional experience, including negotiating, drafting, and closing business deals related to land, mineral, and energy assets.

Provides routine support of exploration and development by negotiating the disposition of leasehold and other contractual rights, including drafting agreements such as Farm-out Agreements, Exploration Agreements, and Joint Operating Agreements.
Participates in commercial transactions, including due diligence, contract negotiation, and transaction closing activities for acquisitions, divestitures, and other business deals.
Conducts the collection and evaluation of land, commercial, and regulatory data from internal and external sources.
Coordinates the acquisition of and reviews record title ownership and cures title deficiencies brought forth within title opinions.
Supports commercial transactional processes by collaborating with legal, finance, and other stakeholders to ensure all business, regulatory, and contractual requirements are met.
Supports preparation and compliance of orders and permits issued by federal or other regulatory agencies.
Develops project management skills, prioritizes deadlines, organizes and completes land assignments with autonomy, anticipates issues, and communicates effectively, demonstrating ownership in achieving results and goals.
Considers and quantifies land management risks in decision-making, collaborates on cross-discipline risk initiatives, and provides detailed technical recommendations with business implications to leadership.
Interprets provisions in leases, contracts, regulatory orders, and laws to assess risks and ensure accurate maintenance of Land data.
Monitors all upcoming lease obligations. Provides asset and operations teams with information critical to ongoing production from and development of properties.
Advises and collaborates with Land Analysts and other internal stakeholders to maintain lease records and land data systems.
Fields inquiries from mineral owners and working interest partners.
Fosters public and community relations that demonstrate excellent corporate stewardship and integrity.
Contributes to moderately complex land projects, providing innovative land management solutions leveraging diverse expertise, technical land management knowledge, and business acumen to identify opportunities, recognize issues, resolve problems, and make recommendations to achieve objectives.
Applies commercial transactional experience to support business development and maximize value in land-related deals.
Stays informed about legal and regulatory changes affecting land management. Analyzes market trends and provides insights to support decision-making.


Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Land Management, Energy Management, Business Administration or Law or any other related discipline, and/or commensurate work experience is required.


Experience:

2+ years of relevant experience, preferably in areas such as Leasing and Negotiation, Land Transaction Due Diligence, Contract Drafting, and commercial transactional experience involving acquisitions, divestitures, or other business deals, or a related field.


Certifications:

Registered Professional Landman (RPL) (preferred)
