The Division Orders Professional, working under direct supervision, is responsible for handling routine matters related to division orders within a geographic area. The role provides support for division order preparation and gains experience in reviewing and analyzing oil and gas leases and related exploration and production contracts to ensure proper maintenance of these assets acquired by assigned division or geographic area, and maintains related files. The role involves maintaining record and equitable title ownership of producing properties in accordance with company policies and legal requirements. The role is pivotal in ensuring the accurate processing of division orders and managing ownership details, thereby contributing significantly to the success of the land administration division.
- Ensures effective administration of title/division order activities relative to domestic producing properties and performs a series of analytical and revenue/royalty related activities from initial well production through the life of the well.
- Gains experience, completes routine division order tasks, and develops skills under direct supervision, supporting change efforts and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provides support relating to division orders to land administration professionals and managers by performing clerical duties including composing and typing general correspondence from rough drafts, and preparing and/or printing out division orders as requested.
- Assists land administration professionals with research of lost owner or title requirements as required, generates "locate" letters as instructed, and handles all division order mail outs.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvements within the land administration department, recommends enhancements, and assures effective business controls through review, analysis, and verification.
- Requests address updates, sets up record of new owners, processes pay code changes to pay or suspend owners, and works with analysts to locate owners.
- Analyzes leases, title opinions, land agreements, and contracts to determine or confirm the company’s interests, royalty rates, payment provisions, and disbursing obligations on company operated producing properties as well as outside operated producing properties.
- Establishes and maintains ownership records for persons legally entitled to the proceeds of oil and gas production through initial set up of the master ownership division of interest, calculates and prepares division orders for all owners legally entitled to the proceeds of oil and gas production, and processes all subsequent changes of the initial set up of the master ownership division of interest.
- Develops basic business knowledge, accesses relevant data services, and gains awareness of industry practices, fostering effective working relationships and learning from subject matter experts within the land administration department.
- Obtains pertinent documents for completion of the files and maintains existing files, monitors drilling reports and well status notices received, and maintains file records containing leases, contracts, documents, maps, and related correspondence.
- Responds to general division order related inquiries, including initial reply to hotline tickets, redirecting calls or providing routine information requiring a general knowledge of department/section functions.
- Identifies routine problems, prioritizes and completes division order assignments with direction, develops awareness of project management, and demonstrates academic understanding in the discipline.
- Bachelor's Degree in Energy Management, Business Administration or any other related discipline and/or commensurate work experience is required.
- 0-3 years of relevant experience, preferably in areas such as Land and Lease Management, Contract Management, Title and Ownership Verification, Royalty Calculations, Division Order Processing or a related field. Industry experience is preferred.
