The Role: Land Agent (Contract Position)
Location: Pennsylvania, USA
Hours: 40 Hours a Week
Reporting to the Vice President, Site Acquisition, the Land Agent will work closely with the land team to help them pursue site control agreements for the target properties, identify access and transmission easements. The role will also work closely with the development team during project hand-off and transition of the site into development.
Please note that this role is a contract position. The role, while based in Pennsylvania, will require daily travel to site, and the possibility of out-of-state travel.
Key Accountabilities and Duties
•Conduct property acquisition work in targeted markets throughout the US and/or Canada;
•Contact landowners and their representatives to set up site meetings;
•Interact and negotiate land lease or purchase agreements directly with landowners and their representatives;
•Set and track expectations for land lease or purchase agreement negotiating strategies with development team;
•Enhance and improve surface land acquisition framework, communication tracking, guidelines and timelines;
•Assist with coordination of open houses for field operations and projects;
•Develop relationships with area specific stakeholder groups, both governmental, landowner and special interest groups, develop awareness of emerging community issues and keep asset teams apprised;
•Coordinate/assist in landowner notifications of impending field operations;
•Provide regular status reporting to senior project managers and developers;
•Review/Audit identified site selections with development team;
•Interaction with local townships, councils and planning agencies;
•Review and understand legal agreements, site plans and large-scale project layouts, and able to communicate to landowners;
•Assess property suitability for renewable energy projects through site documentation and confirmation of local electrical infrastructure;
•Operate and complete assigned projects within tight deadlines.
Qualifications
•Previous experience working in land acquisition; Land acquisition experience in telecom, oil and gas, solar, or real estate development considered an asset.
•Working geographical knowledge of the area, with excellent sense of site location and desirability.
•Familiarity with Community Solar is considered an asset.
•Demonstrated success with identifying renewable sites .
•Knowledge of renewable technologies and energy storage is an asset, as needed for site identifying key target properties that are right-sized to the growth opportunity.
•Knowledge of Market Opportunities – Community Solar Programs, Utility IRP Growth needs etc. considered an asset.
•Knowledge of MS Office, Sharepoint, including Project, Word, Excel, GIS/mapping systems and document management systems.
•Excellent analytical, issue resolution, and excellent communication skills managing concurrent projects.
•A flexible self-starter with the ability to exercise independent judgement, maintaining a strong work ethic and integrity.
•An open-minded individual, with an inclination towards open communication and equitable negotiation practices.
Job Requirements
•The successful candidate will be based in Pennsylvania, US with the expectation that it will align with working hours in Central or Eastern time zones.
•Ability to travel within the United States and Canada. Occasional travel required may be up to 15%.
•As required by a project’s lifecycle and operational requirements, ability to work extended hours.
•Valid driver’s license and Passport.
