This position has the opportunity to work alongside our Field Operations crews who help ensure We Keep Life Flowing® for our customers. This union position will be based out of Rosemead, CA.

The hours and days for this position are Tuesday - Friday, 7am-5:30 pm and also requires rotating on-call responsibilities.

Construct, operate and maintain a water distribution system.
- Sets up barricades and traffic cones.
- Breaks pavement where necessary by whatever methods conditions prescribe.
- Loads and unloads pipes and fittings.
- Digs trenches by means of shovel, or other methods as conditions prescribe.
- Places pipes and fittings.
- Tamps and backfills trenches.
- Builds rough forms for cement work.
- Acts as flagman to direct traffic.
- Sweeps. Repairs water line breaks and/or leaks as required. Changes water meters.
- Performs maintenance and paints.
- Performs routine maintenance on valves and fire-hydrants.
- Required to take after-hours emergency call-outs and be on-call.
- Performs duties of other job classifications as needed.
- Does other similar work as called upon to perform, and any other work as necessary.
- Knowledge of power-tool equipment and construction materials.
- Ability to work in inclement weather daily.
- Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions
- Requires normal physical and mechanical ability.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- High school education or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid California Driver’s License.
- Water Distribution Certification Grade I must be attained within 18 months of hiring.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Shovels, jackhammer, picks, digging bar, cement power saw, clay spade, wrenches, hand tools and power tools necessary to complete the job.
- Drives a company vehicle.
