Under the supervision of the Melt Supervisor, the laborer is responsible for ensuring that all molds are properly set up according to standard procedure for each job. They are also responsible for assisting in the pouring process and unclamping molds after they are poured.

Work Experience Needed: One to three years of verifiable work history. Experience working in a foundry environment is preferred.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one situations to other employees of the organization.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or touch and to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift/and or move items up to 10 lbs., frequently lift to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
The laborer regularly uses a hammer, wooden wedges and clamps. The employee frequently uses an air pipe and glue.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions (non-weather), toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration.
Safety glasses with side shields, hard hat, slip-off safety shoes (646- Kick-off shoes from Iron Age), spats, long sleeve shirts, gloves, and hearing protection. Please note that nylon jogging pants, sweatpants and shorts cannot be worn.
