- Comprehend and follow all Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and requirements.
- Perform physical and chemical analyses for incoming materials, products and byproducts using a variety of techniques and instruments.
- Operate, maintain, repair and install sophisticated laboratory equipment (e.g. GC, AAS, UV-VIS, & XRF/XRD)
- Perform laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support plant operations.
- Prepare specimens and samples.
- Carry out routine tasks accurately and follows strictly the methodologies to carry out analyses.
- Maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment.
- Comprehend complex lab machinery and computer programs used to conduct tests.
- Interpret data and adhere to strict guidelines on documentation when recording data.
- Use computer to perform mathematical calculations for the preparation of graphs.
- Validate methods and equipment.
- Follow and ensure strictly safety procedures and safety checks.
- External audit knowledge.
- Resolve problems by consulting with engineers or other laboratory managers, technical coordinators, laboratory directors etc. within ArcelorMittal Texas HBI.
- Create and maintain a culture of continuous improvement process for the quality.
