Junior Engineer - KCA

The Junior Electrical Engineer at Maskwa High Voltage will support the design and development of protection and control systems for high-voltage utility substations, working closely with senior engineers to produce schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings. This role involves coordinating across disciplines, preparing technical documentation, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Ideal candidates will have 1–3 years of experience, a degree in Electrical Engineering, and familiarity with AutoCAD or MicroStation. We’re currently hiring a Junior Engineer based in Calgary.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Assist in the design of protection and control systems including logic, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

- Develop substation layouts, one-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and control panel wiring.

- Prepare bills of materials, cable schedules, and point assignments.

- Coordinate with other disciplines (SCADA, Telecom, Civil) to ensure integrated designs.

- Support design lead activities under guidance from senior engineers.

- Contribute to engineering reports, scopes of work, and material take-offs.

- Review designs for compliance with industry codes and MHV standards.

- Promote safety in design and support construction activities as needed.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (B.Sc.).

- 1–3 years of experience in utility substation design preferred.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is an asset.

- Registered or eligible for registration with APEGA.
