Temporary Junior Electrical Engineer or Technologist
(12-month term) in our
Kelowna
office.
Responsibilities
Perform detailed design of privately owned and utility owned distribution and substations systems including the development of
- Design, specification and drafting of:
•Medium/Low Voltage Systems
•Underground and overhead medium voltage electrical distribution infrastructure (4kV – 25kV)
•Medium voltage equipment such as transformers, switches, circuit breakers and other devices
•Industrial Low voltage designs such as service conductors, control panels etc.
•Station layout and preliminary design documentation
•High Voltage structure layout and specification including disconnect switches, circuit breakers, transformers, etc.
•Modern protective relaying applicable to power systems
•Communications equipment specification and design
•SCADA interface specification and design
•Grounding design per IEEE 80 and latest software tools
•Lightning Shielding Studies
•Power System studies including:
•Grounding design and analysis using CDEGs
•Load flow, voltage drop, fault studies and arc-flash in medium and low voltage distribution systems using CYME.
•Protection studies and calculations
•Transient modelling and EMTP analysis
•Writing of equipment specifications and tendering
•Grow and manage client relationships through relationships with alliance clients.
•Delivery of project execution and accountable to department manager
•Ensure adherence to schedule in collaboration with the project team
•Off-site meetings and site checks
•Project estimating and material take-offs
•Initiate and partake in customer and stakeholder meetings
•Design coordination with customers, municipal authorities, utilities & various project stakeholders
•Other duties as required
Qualifications
•Degree from a recognized college or university
•Registered with “EGBC or equivalent”
•Ability to work Independently or as a team member
•Experience filling the role of project engineer for multiple projects occurring concurrently.
•Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to autonomously manage workload to control multiple tasks with a very high degree of accuracy, while meeting project deadlines
•Strong English language skills (verbal and written), ability to develop strong business relationships and act in a professional manner
•A passion for your work and a drive for excellence
•Experience in an electrical engineering environment is preferred
•Class 5 driver’s license
