- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
- Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and programmable logic controls.
- Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
- Operate machine tools to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery.
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
- Construct foundations for machinery.
- Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
- Coaches, mentors, and assists with evaluation of the apprentices through the employee performance management process to ensure completion of the apprenticeship program.
- Education
- Hold a valid recognized Alberta Journeyperson Trade Certificate, or a recognized trade certificate or equivalency document.
- 5-10 years of directly related work experience.
- Knowledge of electrical and pneumatics.
- Experience with horizontal and vertical lathes, CNC machine, plasma tables, drills and small tools.

- The ability to visualize a layout by looking at plans and blueprints.
- The ability to comprehend and trouble-shoot mechanical systems.

- This position may be required to direct, coach, and mentor apprentices.
- Position has latitude to apply judgment in immediate work environment with guidance from established guidelines, standards, and policies.
- Issues of a more complex nature or beyond the scope of the position or project are referred to the immediate supervisor.
- Internal: Interacts with apprentices, other trades, supervisors, and managers for the purpose of providing or receiving routine information in regard to their needs. May be required to perform similar work in various departments while taking direction from other leads/foremen/supervisors.

- The strength and stamina required to work with heavy equipment weighting in excess of 25 kilograms.
- Good coordination and manual dexterity.
