Specifics: Oregon Public Pesticide Applicator License with Right of Way Category.

The essential functions of this position require prioritizing and completing all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner, adjusting for changing priorities and availability of resources, and demonstrating initiative in identifying additional job-related tasks to be completed when time permits. The amount of time performing each function may vary day-to-day. All duties shall be performed in an efficient and professional manner in accordance with applicable labor agreements and Central Lincoln’s Safety Manual and under the direct supervision of a designated supervisor.
JOB FUNCTIONS Trimming and pruning trees, clearing brush and vegetation, maintaining the right of way and performing general maintenance of Central Lincoln facilities, often around and near energized electrical lines.
Operating equipment and tools used in tree trimming work.
Direct the Work of Tree Trimming Crew:
- Assign, prioritize and direct the work of crews or individuals.
- Track work; get information and materials to complete.
- Schedule and coordinate work with other employees; people from other utilities or trade associations; contractors; customers and the general public.
- Provide technical direction and training, evaluate work and provide feedback to employees.
- Make changes as required to maximize overall efficiency.
- Work with supervisor to determine job priorities and efficiently allocate resources within the section.
- Perform incident analysis and reports. Review time sheets for accuracy for section employees.
Research, evaluate, justify and explain the benefits and alternatives of doing a job, buying equipment, providing training, adding personnel, etc.
- Attend crew tailboard meetings with crews and other Central Lincoln meetings as requested.
- Participate and provide input at safety and section meetings.
- Provide input to the Supervisor for hiring, promotion sections and employee reviews.
Responsibly balance business needs, customer needs and the impact on other departments when making decisions or recommendations, and actively demonstrate accountability for achieving desired outcomes and measurable results.
Complete timecards, reports, data tickets, logs, job-related forms, and other similar paperwork accurately, completely, timely, and in the format prescribed and explained by Human Resources or supervisors.

Electric utility materials, equipment and supplies.

- Use power tools, hand tools, chain saws, hydraulic tree trimming saws, rakes and aerial man lifts, trucks, chippers, and hot sticks.
- Perform work-related tasks in trees up to 200 feet or more in height.
- Climb trees with or without spurs and able to pull body weight 45 feet up tree.
- Push or pull tree limbs, often while bent over in a tree for up to 5 minutes at a time, 4 or more times a day.
- Perform an aerial rescue in emergency situations.
- Properly use safety equipment.
- Speak loudly and clearly enough to be accurately understood when on the ground speaking to a co-worker in the top of a 45-foot tree, despite heavy background noise from traffic, construction equipment or wind, and when visual signals cannot be used.
- Speak clearly, communicating by two-way radio.
- Convey information, ideas, and facts both orally and in writing to supervisors, colleagues, and individuals, inside and outside the county, using language and a format the audience will best understand.
- Utilize computers and other technology to communicate in written and verbal forms (e.g., word processing, texts, emails, spreadsheets, department-specific software).
