Job or Position Title: Internal Audit Staff/Data Analyst
The position will conduct audits for management to assess effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records, and efficiency of operations. These audits will analyzes data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of effort, extravagance, fraud, or lack of compliance with laws, government regulations, and management policies or procedures. This position will use a software tool (ACL or IDEA) to analyze electronic data and report the results. This will require writing scripts to be able to repeat the analyses. The position will document their work in a manner consistent with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Standards. Reports of findings and recommendations for management will be prepared. The position may conduct special projects for management.
These duties will require the position to interact with company employees from all levels with courtesy and in a manner that fosters respect and trust. Professional appearance and behavior will be expected at all times.
The position will require overnight travel to work at remote company locations. The position will be expected at times to drive a company vehicle and may need to travel on commercial airlines.
There will be an expectation that the position will be actively progressing toward certification as an internal auditor as defined by the IIA.
- Objectively review an organization’s business processes
- Evaluate the efficacy of risk management procedures that are currently in place
- Perform data analysis of electronic data using various software tools, including writing scripts to allow operations to be repeated.
- Protect against fraud and theft of the organization’s assets
- Ensure that the organization is complying with relevant laws and statutes
- Make recommendations on how to improve internal controls and governance processes
- Outstanding oral communication (English)
- Professional level written communication (English)
- Proficiency with MS Word and Excel (2 years experience preferred)
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and maintain a clean driving record.
- Must obtain and maintain a WNGC license.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
- A minor in Internal Audit (Preferred)
- Experience with ACL or IDEA software (Preferred)
