Position Overview
The Internal Audit and Compliance Manager will have primary and direct responsibility for managing the Company’s internal audit and advisory program, in support of the Company’s overall business strategy and compliance and risk management frameworks. Work includes management of financial, operational and compliance audit projects; leading special projects; providing consulting services to the organization’s management and staff; providing key input to development of the annual audit plan; and providing training, development and coaching to internal audit staff. Additionally, this role will help develop and implement the Company’s enterprise risk assessment program. Principal business outcomes for this role include identifying internal process recommendations to minimize cost, risks and support profitable growth, while building productive and sustainable consultative relationships throughout the organization. This role also identifies and monitors industry trends, provides direction to the internal audit team and works collaboratively with the Chief Compliance Officer and Director of Enterprise Risk.
Responsibilities•Lead the annual risk assessment to provide key input to the development of the annual audit plan, to include but not limited to managing and/or performing audit procedures, identifying, developing and documenting audit issues and recommendations, communicate or assist in communicating the results of audits
•Work closely, collaboratively and proactively with senior leaders to forecast and identify risk, assess control deficiencies and provide recommendations for sustainable, effective and efficient remediation.
•Develop testing methodologies, incorporating data analytics, research and benchmarking to evaluate the adequacy of the business controls.
•Conduct interviews, review documents, develop and administer surveys, compose summary memos, and prepare audit-related documentation.
•Prepare reports, presentations, and general updates as often as needed to audiences of varying technical expertise and levels of responsibility.
•Develop, leverage and integrate external best-practice to internal audit operations and Enterprise Risk Management program.
•Working collaboratively with the Director of Enterprise Risk to develop, communicate and maintain a sustainable Enterprise Risk Assessment Process for the Company. Identify, assess and present top risks to Management.
•Support the Chief Compliance Officer in implementing the Company’s compliance program, including compliance audit planning and development of internal controls in furtherance of the compliance program.

Perform related work as assigned by the Chief Compliance Officer and Director of Enterprise Risk. Lead special projects, as assigned.
Required Skills
•Expert knowledge of internal controls and associated compliance requirements
•Expert ability to map and understand processes including identification of risks and controls
•Expert understanding of internal auditing and accounting principles and practices, and management principles and preferred business practices
•Proficient knowledge of the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics developed by The Institute of Internal Auditors
•Proficient knowledge of industry program policies, procedures, regulations, and laws
•Proficient ability to conduct quality control reviews of audit work products
•Expert ability to collect, organize, analyze and report complex data; evaluate information and systems; and make appropriate recommendation
•Proficient knowledge of project management principles, including the ability to manage projects, working through others, with tight timelines and multiple, potentially overlapping priorities
•Expert negotiation, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
•Expert knowledge of audit-related data management, including the ability to input, interpret, analyze, organize and report data using a computer and Microsoft Office applications; specifically, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
•Ability to communicate effectively with others in written and spoken English
•Demonstrated attention to detail including the ability to reduce a complex concept or task into something that is manageable and clearly interpreted
•Proficient knowledge of employee development: talent assessment, competency-based development, motivation and reward
Required Experience
•Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program such as business administration, public administration, accounting, finance, or related business discipline required — related Master’s degree preferred
•CPA certification, or equivalent, required
•At least seven years of full-time experience in auditing, accounting, business analysis, or program evaluation
•Public accounting background is preferred
•Fluent in Spanish is a plus
•Energy industry experience is a plus
•Ability to travel up to 20%. Including a couple of weeks of travel a year to Peru, North Dakota and other locations as necessary.
